This is the day of arrival.
I got dropped off today.
Icebreaking: We played speedfriends first where there were 2 concentric circles of people (14 each), and opposite people talked for a minute or 2. Then we played memory games in our groups of 10. I was pretty good at remember stuff. The last game played was 2 truths 1 lie. In my turn, I told:
-I play badminton.
-I am left-handed.
-I am going to 11th grade.
I also caught the ball given by my residential advisor in my left hand to make people think I am one. And, as anticipated, they guessed the wrong lie.
Today, I think I ended up making some good impressions. So, I ended up being happy.
Dinner: I entered 1920 Commons (dining area for breakfast and dinner), tapped my card and went up. Followed familiar faces. Went to the right side counter. I saw a person cutting meat pizza with a pizza cutter without gloves. When I looked, it sliced through the piece of meat. Bad first impression for an Indian vegetarian. I decided not to eat vegetarian pizza from that place. Some vegan options were onions, fried capsicums, French fries (with potato skin which I hate) and some fruits. I took a glass of Sprite and sat down. 1 month. I would need survive on this kinda food for 1 month. I suddenly started feeling homesick and missed Indian food. I somehow managed to hold back my tears.
Here comes the twist: Apparently, there was left counter with some more meal options, more fruits, even breads and more cool drinks. I was on cloud 9. All my homesickness was gone. That night, I slept tight with a half-filled tummy, but a mind looking forward to the course ahead and making more friends .
